Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) is a progressive therapeutic approach involving teamwork. The team consists of a counsellor, a horse consultant and horses, working together with the client to facilitate emotional growth and learning. The counsellor and the horse consultant maintain physical and emotional safety.
EAGALA (Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association) is EAP’s governing body promoting, educating and providing standards of practice, ethics and safety in this field.
EAP offers opportunities to explore personal growth, enjoyment and fulfilment. It also aims to address a variety of mental health and human development needs, which can include behavioural issues, abuse, loss and anxiety, relationship problems and communication.
No horse knowledge is required to benefit from this therapeutic approach.
